Simon Pierro is a German magician who combines classic techniques with high-tech tools.

Many of his tricks are performed with an iPad, using bespoke visuals and applications. Pierro’s magic is fairly purist and traditional though the high-tech element does give it an interesting spin.

Pierro’s approach is a part of what looks to be an emerging trend in high-tech tricks. Interestingly, most magicians tend to hide their phones from view. This is a very common sentiment I have ran into. In terms of objects usable in a performance, magicians tend to prefer things which they can easily conceal. Pierro keeps his object – the iPad – front and centre, using it to spin a narrative, to command attention from the crowd.
